We read of flocks and herds, of hay and tender grass, of mountain herbs, lambs and goats. This cluster represents everyday industry and life. We are given a picture of the pre-occupations of life, the advantages of diligence and our responsibility to our given work. Then we read of a godly woman and how she is not afraid of hard work. We all have responsibilities. Or so we should have. When we are given a responsibilty it needs to be taken seriously.
The Lord gives us many of them himself, as we get older things we need to be doing. Some he takes very seriously, and therefore we need to also take them seriously. For example a man with a family needs to provide for them; food on the table, clothes, shelter. A married woman needs to take care of her husband, love, honour respect him, love and take care of the family. Her husband and family needs are to be met first before outside things are done.
Our giving Lord continuously gives substance to man through the reproductiveness of nature. He requires though that man diligently look after His blessings to preserve them so that God might continue to multiply them according to His goodness.
Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
The Good Shepherd cares for us throughout our life and never losses even one of His sheep.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
The Bible urges us to work with our hands so that we can provide for ourselves and others.
Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
1Thessalonians 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
1Thessalonians 4:12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
Work, when performed with the right attitude, can be enjoyable and rewarding.
Diligence is always necessary in financial matters, especially now, when the world has become so complex we must watch over.
Since life is short and our futures uncertain, we should be all the more diligent in appraising and taking care for our responsibilities in life. We should act with fore-thought, giving responsible attention to our families and decisions made. It is important to care for one’s resources, to work hard, and to recognize God’s provision throughout our life. Thinking ahead and thinking practically about life and then acting responsibly upon your plan are not options but most important choices in our life considering our testimonies concerning our life for the Lord and people that are watching us.
We need to becareful as some people we are the only Bible some will ever read. If lost individuals see us living ungodly they make it an excuse to live as they want. Our world no longer has responsibilities, they shrug them off as a mosquito in summer time. The lord still considers responsibilities very important, how do we handle ours today? Married, unmarried we have responsibilities. Student, not a student we have responsibilities. Parent, not a parent we have responsibilities. If we have a job or unemployed we have responsibilities. Find out what they are and take care of them.

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.
