Let The Joy Of The Lord Show!!!

Friday a blessing Neh 8 10

Have a Wonderful and Blessed Day!!! The Joy Of The Lord!!!

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Joy is not syrupy or sappy, sentimental or seasonal. Joy is not happiness, because happiness depends on what happens to you. Joy is also not the absence of sorrow.

Look to Hebrews 12.2 to find a good definition for Joy:

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Joy is looking beyond your present problems to God’s eternal promises.

God’s first and greatest promise is “I will be with you.”

Joy is gladness for the presence of Jesus in our lives

What He Did For Us

He came here to this sin=cursed earth and died on the cross for our sins. He paid our sin debt in full that whosoever believeth in him shall be saved.

He supplies our every need.

He protects us under his wings.

He loves us more than anyone.

Psalm 126:2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.

Psalm 126:3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Psalm 126:4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.

Psalm 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

Psalm 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Joy grants us protection from overwhelming emotions

Joy will not stop struggle, sorrow, stress, or sadness but it will transform them.

John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

We can experience joy while going through sad, and tough times.

All the problems of this life can cause us to lose sight of the eternal promises of God. His promise of salvation, provision, protection, healing. When we forget His goodness we lose our gladness and it often turns to sadness. When we back away from our Father and into the world and our old ways, the ways the world uses for sadness, depression, and helplessness, we are pleasing the enemy and making things worse. We are setting ourselves up for disaster, for heart problems.

If instead we look for the Joy of the Lord instead what kind of hope will it mean, what will Joy do? It rejoices in the Lord and not life’s happenings. The Lord Jesus is unchangeable and constant, consistant. The happenings of life are forever changing. Emotions cannot consume us if we are trusting Jesus.

Hebrews 10:34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

Hebrews 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

1Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

1Thessalonians 1:6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

Joy Grows as We Abide in Jesus

What did Jesus speak to them?

John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Abiding Requires Surrender

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

What is true surrender? It is submission to God’s law that represents God’s person. Love God with all your everything. It is seeking first His kingdom and setting aside our desire to rule and reign our lives. It is true submission that results in obedience.

When Jesus says abide in me He means depend on me. He uses the picture of a vine and a branch. The branch depends on the vine for everything, life, food, water, everything. For God to be everything we must learn to be nothing.

Joy is the result of obedience despite what the results of that obedience will be.

Remember peace is God’s presence in your life. Joy is the pleasure of God’s presence in your life despite what your present circumstances are.

Jesus says in verse ten: “If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love…” Jesus kept the commandments of His Father. We also must obey Him. There’s no way to have joy unless we obey.

A Joyful Heart Rejoices not at the Problems of Life but the Possibilities of Life with Jesus.

All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.
