His Word Will Last Forever :)

Sunday 1 Peter 1 25

Have a Wonderful and Blessed Day!!! The Word Of The Lord Endureth Forever!!!
1Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
1Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1Peter 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
1Peter 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1Peter 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
1Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
1Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
1Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
1Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1Peter 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
1Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

For an hour or two on Sunday mornings many Christians put on the very very best, they look, talk and act in a manner that leads others to believe they are genuine disciples of Jesus. But for the other 166 hours in the week, there is really very little in their lives to distinguish them from the unbelieving world around them. It’s almost like when they walk out the doors of the church on Sunday morning they think, “I’m sure glad I don’t have to behave like that all the time.” What is the problem with this mindset?
*Our Precious Father is who we are to be pleasing; he can see, hear, and knows our every thought, motive, and desire. It doesn’t matter what the Pastor, or any other person in them pews thinks or believes.
*For any growth we need to walk properly in our everyday life or our growth will be be to a halt.
*If we have prayer needs we may have a problem; if our heart is cold and wicked our Father have say “Oh well good luck with that considering your attitude”.
As we come to verse 13 of chapter 1, there is a noticeable shift in Peter’s focus. In the first 12 verses of his letter, Peter is stating facts. But beginning in verse 13, we’ll see that Peter begins to use a lot of imperative verbs which give us commands. In other words, Peter began his letter by explaining the reality of our salvation. Now he is going to describe the duty of those who have received that salvation.
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God:
1Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
He compares us to grass and what does that mean?
All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.
1Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the things of this world. Do not get back into your former lusts, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.
1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Leviticus 20:26 And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

God’s holiness is not simply the best we know infinitely bettered…Holy is the way God is. To be holy He does not conform to a standard. He is that standard.
God certainly gave his people these commands for their own good. But it is clear that His greater purpose was so that His people would live in a manner that set them apart from the other nations around them. Because God had chosen them and set them apart to live in a covenant relationship with Him, their lives were to be set apart, unique and distinct. We see that clearly at the end of that section of Leviticus:
When God commands us to be holy because He is holy, He is not saying that we need to attain to the standard of who He is, which we all know is impossible. But if we’re going to be God’s children and call Him “Father” like we see in verse 17, then there ought to be a family resemblance. If our Father is set apart, then if we are going to be His children and citizens of His kingdom, we are also to live lives that are set apart, unique and distinct from the world around us. And we are to do that in every area of our lives. And that is possible. People, the world need to see us as different. When we go places people should be able to look at us and say “They are different”.
The point Peter is making here is that living as a citizen of heaven in this world ought to feel a lot like that to us. As we’ve seen already in Peter’s letter, we are living here on this earth as strangers, because our true home is in heaven. And honestly, if that isn’t consistently uncomfortable for us to do, then we probably aren’t being holy in all our conduct because being holy means being set apart and unique and being set apart and unique means we shouldn’t fit into this world and that should be uncomfortable. If we can go into certain worldly places playing worldly music, drinking at the bar and not feel uncomfortable then we need to ask ourself what is wrong with my heart.
If others around me aren’t noticing that there is something different about the way I’m living my life, then perhaps I’ve gotten a little too friendly with the world I’m living in and am no longer living as a stranger in a strange world. James warns us that kind of mindset actually makes us an enemy of God:
Peter reminds us here of the great price that God paid to ransom us from our former, futile way of life. He didn’t pay that ransom with perishable things like silver or gold, but rather with the precious blood of Jesus. That was God’s plan from before the foundation of the world. Even though Jesus was perfect, without spot or blemish, He willingly gave His life on the cross and then God raised Him from the dead so that God could receive glory and so that we could have faith and hope.

PRACTICAL STEPS TO TAKE
1. Evaluate what I am watching, reading, seeing and listening to and identify those things that are filling my mind with the thinking of this world and then take concrete steps to remove those things from my life.
2. Fill my mind with the thinking of God’s kingdom by reading the Bible and spending time in prayer every day.
If we would all do just those two things then we’ll be well on the road to making sure that we are holy in all our conduct, not just on Sunday mornings, but every day of our lives.
3. Make sure when your sitting on Church Sunday Morning, Are you comfortable or anxious to get home to the world?
4. If you don’t enjoy listening to the message and fellowshipping get that problem FIXED!!!
