Psalm 71:18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me.
“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
The most humbling, The most beneficial Christian work is PRAYER. I want to repeat that again: THE MOST HUMBLING, THE MOST BENEFICIAL
CHRISTIAN WORK IS PRAYER.
Preaching, Teaching or Witnessing, No Christian exercise will do for you what PRAYER will do. That is true prayer. The moment you are saved you can pray. If your Christian life is to be successful you must PRAY. AT ALL TIMES. Prayer is the Greatest Force in all the universe. Some one said, and surely this is true.
1Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

THE JOY OF OBEDIENCE
Though Christ had all power, He prayed. It is right to Pray. Follow Christ in Prayer.
Other men prayed, Paul prayed, John prayed, Peter prayed. We should pray, and pray earnestly. How often we find ourselves out of obedience of God’s will, because we failed to spend time in prayer. How often have we missed the joy’s God has for us, just because we failed to pray. Ask, Ye have not because ye ask not. Seek, and ye shall find.
There is joy of obedience when we learn to pray, so begin to pray, pray at all times, for all things, about all things.

THE REALITY OF SPIRITUAL BATTLE
Prayer is conflict ! The flesh and Satan always are in rebellion to prayer.
There is a battle going on in our lives, but we must continue to pray. Without prayer there is no hope for victory over the forces that are against us. In the book of Ephesians chapter six we have the forces with which we are in the conflict against.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
When we are the children of God it is not just important to pray, it is part of our life. We are in a battle daily. Without prayer we can’t expect to be the victor. Our enemy can’t steal our Salvation but if sit back and do nothing he will steal our joy, he will be able to move in and find ways to distrub our lives.

PRAYING FOR GODS WILL TO BE DONE
This is what submissive praying does:
*It quiets the heart.
*It increases our Faith
*It cleanses the heart.
*It brings true dedication to Christ.
*It brings fullness Of Christ in our life.
Pray for Gods will to be done in our life. And not our Will!!!!
In that model prayer He gave to His disciples, He said, “thy kingdom come thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
As we get praying for Our Lord’s will we get used to the idea it is about his will and not our own!!!

THE VALUE OF INTERCESSION

Prayer has taught me the value of intercession for others. We are to pray for other people.We are to pray for the Church, our local Church, and for other local Churches. The Pastors, missionaries, the lost, the hurting. We are to pray for our homes, and the homes of others. Praying for others is intercessory prayer. Jesus prayed for others. In Johns Gospel in the text verse we read at the beginning of this message we see Him praying for us.
John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

We need to pray daily. We all need to learn the discipline of prayer. We should be willing to work in prayer. Pray always, Pray without ceasing.
Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Another thing to remember Prayer is our Communication Line with Our Precious father. We should want to talk with him Daily!!! He wants to talk to us…..

TEACH ME TO PRAY
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray;
This is my heart-cry day unto day;
I long to know Thy will and Thy way;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.
Living in Thee, Lord, and Thou in me,
Constant abiding, this is my plea;
Grant me Thy power, boundless and free,
Power with men and power with Thee.
Power in prayer, Lord, power in prayer!
Here ’mid earth’s sin and sorrow and care,
Men lost and dying, souls in despair;
O give me power, power in prayer!
My weakened will, Lord, Thou canst renew;
My sinful nature Thou canst subdue;
Fill me just now with power anew;
Power to pray and power to do!
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray;
Thou art my pattern day unto day;
Thou art my surety, now and for aye;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.
