PRAISE HIS WONDERFUL NAME!!

friday 1 corinthians 1 9

Have a Wonderful and Blessed day!!! O Lord My Strength!!!

Psalm 18:1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalm 18:3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

How valuable is worship to you ?
Did you know that worship is about value ? Worship demonstrates the value that we place upon God.

The frequency of our worship, the passion of our worship, the nature of our worship declares the value that we place upon the Lord. If our worship is infrequent, and inconsistent, if our worship is cold, and complacent, if our worship is fruitless, and faithless…..then the value that we place upon God is too low ! Look at who the lord is, and what he has done for each of us and continues to do. Why would worship be after all our chores, favorite TV program, coffee with friends. Then If we are not to tired we can thank him. Him who came here to this sin-cursed world to suffer, and die he with no sin, no spot, no blemish but carries our wicked sins into the pits of hell. He made Heaven possible for us no matter what we have done wrong, sinfully in our lives.

Look at Psalms 18
1. I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

When David thought about the Lord, he said he is worthy of my praise. It is only natural that I worship him. When he reminisced about all that God had done in his life David acknowledged he is worthy the Lord alone is worthy. called him out of a field full of shepherds, and sat him upon a throne, kept him secure from his enemies, forgave him of his sins which were numerous……..he and he alone is worthy!!!
Psalm 42:4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

Is God worthy of your worship ?
Has he done anything for us that makes him worthy of our worship? Has he blessed us? Has he saved us? Is he worthy of our worship? Then why don’t we do it?

If we place great value, worth upon God, then our worship will be more sincere….we will be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit in our worship, and God will be honored in our worship.

1. Determining God’s Worth.
Why is God worthy of our worship ?

a. Because of his character.
Job 33:12 Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

2Samuel 7:22 Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
Deuteronomy 4:36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
Deuteronomy 4:37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
Deuteronomy 4:38 To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
Deuteronomy 4:40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
Psalm 86:10 For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
Psalm 86:11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
Psalm 86:12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.
Psalm 86:13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
Psalm 86:14 O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.
Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
Psalm 86:16 O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
Psalm 86:17 Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.

b. Because of his compassion.
Psalm 78:38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
Psalm 145:7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
Psalm 145:8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
Psalm 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
Psalm 145:10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.

c. Because of his Cross.
John 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

2. Demonstrating God’s Worth
Having determined his worth…how do we demonstrate his worth ?
a. by our profession.
This is the first and vital step towards demonstrating that God is worthy. We must possess, and profess faith in him.
b. by our participation.

We show God. We demonstrate his worth to us when we obey him by participating in the things that please him. When we assemble together as a church, it is pleasing to him if we worship…..it pleases him, praises him…..honors him that you are here…..that his people have gathered together to worship him.
But our participation in the assembly should not be the end of our worship….but rather the beginning…….we praise him through our activity. When we leave from this place……we are to be actively serving him.

c. by our posture.
The Hebrew word for worship itself tells us what our posture should be towards the Lord. It means to “fall prostrate or to bow down”.
Psalm 95:4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
Psalm 95:5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
Psalm 95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

d. By Our Praise.
Psalm 100:1 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Psalm 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalm 9:2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
Psalm 22:25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

e. By our Presents
1Chronicles 16:27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
1Chronicles 16:28 Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
1Chronicles 16:29 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psalm 96:8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.

f. By our Prayers
Psalm 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Psalm 55:18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
1Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

3. Declaring God’s Worth
We should not only demonstrate God’s worth in our public and private worship, but we should declare God’s worth to others.
Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Psalm 9:11 Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

How do we declare his worth ?
a. With our lives
b. With our love
c. With our legacy
d. With our lips

If you see nothing special in these things OPEN YOUR DOOR LOOK OUTSIDE AT THE TREES, SKY, SUN, MOON, STARS, FLOWERS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE AND KNOW ALL WAS CREATED BY HIM, THE ALMIGHTY GOD. HE WHO SAVED US WITH HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD.

HOW GREAT THOU ART
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the works Thy hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then shall I bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art!”
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

Love and Prayers
Cheryl
