When The Storms Come!!

Proverbs 1 5

Have a Wonderful and Blessed day!!! When A Storm is Upon Us!!!

Proverbs 1:20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
Proverbs 1:21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
Proverbs 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
Proverbs 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
Proverbs 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Proverbs 1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
Proverbs 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
Proverbs 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Proverbs 1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
Proverbs 1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
Proverbs 1:30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
Proverbs 1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Proverbs 1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
Proverbs 1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Our response to Wisdom will determine whether our lives are marked by a whirlwind of destruction and death or the tranquility of peace, safety and eternal life.

A Storm is on the horizon – behind us & before us.
“When destruction comes like a whirlwind…” Ever witnessed a tornado or even a hurricane? Or maybe you at least see the movie with the flowing cows moo-ing as they flew to certain destruction?

It is an awful and terrifying experience of a fury and power that knows no mercy – A fury and power that gives no warning, offers no second chances and is without escape!

In New York I think we have had only two tornadoes. It was a very frightening. Now it didn’t leave destruction like the recent one in Tennessee but enough to show the power and fury.

At 8:45 AM Tuesday morning, September 11th, NYC, Washington, D.C. (and to an extent the world) was gravely impacted by a sudden, completely unexpected and indescribably terrible destruction that came “like a whirlwind.” Even those of us who were not right at ground zero seen the devastation.

Fellow Americans and friends, terrorism is not the only whirlwind of destruction about which we must be extremely wary and prepared. Not in any way to diminish the horrible atrocity we are still dealing with, but it is utterly important that we recognize that there is another whirlwind of destruction on the horizon. One that makes even the unspeakable horror of September 11, 2001 seem like a stubbed toe in comparison.
Not only will this whirlwind of destruction be far more sudden, horrible, and everlasting, but it is one which we all deserve and none may escape except by one route.

Now people are in fear and great PANIC over the Corona Virus now we haven’t seen the same destruction but much panic and mayhem at Hospitals, Nursing homes, and the local grocery store.
Don’t take my word for it! Hear the words of the wisest man who ever lived, inspired by the source of all wisdom. . .

PROPOSITION: Our response to Wisdom will determine whether our lives are marked by a whirlwind of destruction and death or the tranquility of peace, safety and eternal life.

I. WHO/WHAT IS WISDOM ?

A. Wisdom is a divine attribute of God.
1. God alone knows it;
Job 28:22 Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
Job 28:23 God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
Proverbs 2:8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

2. With it, God created all things;
Proverbs 3:19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Proverbs 3:20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
B. Wisdom is knowledge plus prudence;
Proverbs 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
Proverbs 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
Deuteronomy 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deuteronomy 4:7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Psalm 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

C. Wisdom is smart, and wise decision-making before God;
2Samuel 20:22 Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.
1Kings 5:12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

D. Wisdom is to have the right fear of God; and to know God.
Proverbs 1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Proverbs 9:8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
E. Wisdom is the mark of the righteous; and beyond the reach of the simple , mockers , and fools.
Psalm 37:29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
Psalm 37:30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
Psalm 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
Proverbs 10:29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
Proverbs 10:30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Proverbs 10:31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Proverbs 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

II. WISDOM CRIES OUT TO EVERYONE . . .
BUT IS REJECTED BY MANY (Verse. 22).
A. “Simple Ones”
B. “Scorners”
Believed to come from a root word literally meaning “to make mouths at“. As used in OT, means to mock, scorn, belittle the words or ideas of another (in this case God)! Our world in its “BE TOLERANT LECTURES” are such good examples of mocking, and scorners when us as Saved, born again children of the MIGHTY GOD are attacked by the “Tolerant”.
C. “Fools”

Stupid, one who delights in not understanding (the guy & gal in school who thought it was cool to never do homework or answer the teacher’s questions, and to fail everything), and one who enjoys mischief. One whom laughs at the idea of hell, “I am going to be having a huge beer party with friends in hell” Not only is this foolish but so dangerous.
In one sense or another, this has or does apply to us all – even the most learned and seemingly wise or knowledgeable among us. I think most of us have come across the mockers and scorners. I think sometimes some of us have been the mockers.

III. GOD LONGS FOR US TO TURN TO WISDOM AND
BE BLESSED . (Verse. 23)

It is not, and never has been God’s desire for us to in any way feel pain, sorrow, loneliness, or suffering – let alone eternally! From the beginning, He declared His creation to be “very good” (Gen. 2:31). And His plan from the beginning was to fellowship with us and delight in and bless us.
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

IV. TO REJECT GOD’S WISDOM IS TO INVITE
DESTRUCTION AND DEATH .

Proverbs 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Proverbs 1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
Proverbs 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Charles Spurgeon explained our predicament something like this: What if a vile, venomous snake were to craftily slither into your home, through the house, into the nursery, up and into your child’s bed. Then, suddenly, the shiny snake strikes and bites your child, filling him or her with potent venom that quickly kills the innocent babe.

Will you admire the metallic beauty and natural grace of that snake? Will you awe at its size, stealth and power? Or perhaps kill it, but then take it to a taxidermist that it might be vividly displayed in your home for all to admire its beauty and power? Of course not, you will kill it and then hurt it some more! You will stomp it and cut it and desecrate it. You will get it out of your house and your life forever! From that day forward every snake you see will be seen as your sworn enemy to be avoided if not utterly destroyed!!!

And yet we embrace our sin, and foolishness that killed the precious Son of God, Jesus! How foolish?! What a mockery that is?
My friends, we have to see there is a vast difference between being tempted, going into sin and then being sorry and repenting vs. when you go into sin AND YOU LOVE IT!

Lets also address the issue of Wisdom “laughing” and “mocking” during such horrible destruction and death. I’m sure many are privately, if not quietly, uncomfortable and questioning God at this. Let me make a few quick points for your consideration.

First, it is “Wisdom” that is laughing and mocking. It is largely a metaphor. It is like when a foolishly rest out of the car and slam the door on the back of my coat. Then, not realizing it strain and bounce back. My thoughts at that moment of sudden realization and wisdom is to laugh at and mock myself for such earlier stupidity.

God is not mentioned here as laughing & mocking. Yes, there are numerous other Scriptures which indicate that at the time of Judgement, after mercy has been extended and rejected, God no longer has compassion on those souls or their just punishment. Do we not value and believe in perfect justice? Should not evil be punished?

A. Responsibility for the outcome lies with each individual. (verses. 24-25, 29-30).

Because each individual chose it!!!
There is no justified blaming of God. He sent Wisdom crying out to each individual. Often many, perhaps hundreds or even thousands of times. Nor can any human make God angry or vengeful. Don’t fool yourself, you are not that powerful, none of us is. If He is angry or vengeful toward us it is simply because Justice and Holiness require it. If anything, we should be stunned in wonderment about how He could ever see any of us in any other way!
For each of us has sinned and fallen short. And each of us has ignored Wisdom’s cries of salvation and indignantly swapped away her hand of mercy.

B. The results of rejection of Jesus are horrific.

1. Whirlwind of loss .

In this whirlwind of destruction “which some have invited self too”, much is lost.
They lose any further opportunity for Wisdom.
They have lost their last chance – any hope of repentance, change or mercy.

They chose not to fear God and thus lost any chance of relationship with Him, receiving His blessings.
2. Whirlwind of natural consequences .
Proverbs 1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

So what verse 31 is saying “You become what you do and you get what you have worked for and deserved.”
Much of this suffering and destruction occurs right in this present life according to the absolute law of Cause & Effect.

3. Whirlwind of death . (verse. 32)

Note that death here is caused by chosen, individual waywardness and complacency in ignoring, mocking and running away from Wisdom and Truth – and ultimately from GOD HIMSELF.
a. Physical
b. Spiritual
It may not be very popular to say, but the truth is that this whirlwind of physical and spiritual death means a chosen and deserved eternity in Hell!

What does that mean?
1) It is the eternal absence of and separation from God and thus His blessings. Imagine that you no longer receive any love, but are surrounding only by anger, bitterness and hatred. Imagine that there is not even the hope of peace, but only chaos and suffering. Imagine what it would be like to be eternal separated from your loved ones? Or worse, to know that they too are suffering this indescribable abomination? There is no light, but that of fire! There is no beauty, but only ugliness and disgust.

People who sadly have went through destruction think “Well it can’t get any worse….YES IT CAN IF “WE DIE WITHOUT JESUS”. Now many are feeling desperate due to this Corona Virus (I have been asking how much of this is to prepare for NWQO, Money system, way to explain when thousands disappear in a blink of an eye). People are fighting over TOILET PAPER!!!

2) Which ever way you want to look at it, it is either a total separation from other humans as well, or eternal confinement with the most abominable and miserable company!

3) Our conscience, memory and desires remain eternal but without any hope of fulfillment.

Luke 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Reading this portion of scripture I don’t see any comfort, no beer, not even a drop of water, nobody to pal around with. So all the great things of destruction look pretty small in comparison.
3) It is forever!

It has been said that eternity is as long as it would take, if it were possible, to take all of the water in the universe and fill a cosmic tub with it. Then, let it drop out one tiny droplet at a time. Then, when all of the water has drained out one drop at a time, then not even 1 hour of eternity has gone by. You have much more yet to go. NEVER ENDING!!!

Billy Sunday put it this way: As long as it would take, if it were possible, for a little sparrow to take 1 grain of sand from the earth, fly 1 million light years away and deposit that grain of sand. Fly 1 million light years back to earth and peck up another grain of sand. Fly 1 million light years out and deposit it again. So on and so on until the earth was no more. Even then, as long as it would take, not even 1 moment of eternity has passed. There is that much and more to go…

Many may also wonder, but how can a loving God condemn people to such a horror? The “simple” answer is because He is a Holy and Just God and perfect justice requires it. KEEP IN MIND HE SENDS NO ONE TO HELL IT IS CHOSEN BY SELVE WHEN REJECTING JESUS. OUR PRECIOUS AND WONDERFUL HOLY GOD WOULD HAVE NONE SPEND ETERNITY IN HELL THAT CHOICE IS MADE BY EACH INDIVIDUAL.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Romans 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Romans 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Every time God’s love is mentioned in the New Testament, it is mentioned through Jesus! No Jesus, no love.
V. TO EMBRACE GOD’S WISDOM IS TO LIVE IN ETERNAL PEACE ,
AND SECURITY . (Verse. 33)

And there is the GOOD NEWS! There is a way out – a way to avoid the whirlwind of destruction. And that way is the Old Rugged Cross.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the way out!

HAVE YOU BEEN TO JESUS?
1) Tell others of Wisdom’s call to them.
2) Warn others of the whirlwind of destruction.
3) Tell others of the promise of eternal peace & security in Jesus.
No matter what destruction or breakout of the newest health risk remember none of it is bigger than our Mighty god. I am not saying it is awful for people to suffer but realize we are herew but a moment, and then eternity and HOW LONG IS ETERNITY?
AS THE BIBLE SAYS “KEEP OUR EYES ON JESUS”

YOU ARE ALL IN MY DAILY PRAYERS!!!

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS
On a hill far away, stood an old rugged Cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old Cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain
And I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
To the old rugged Cross, I will ever be true
Its shame and reproach gladly bear
And they’ll call me some day to my home far away
Where His glory forever I’ll share
And I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
Love and prayers
Cheryl
